TESL Ottawa had its start in 1974 when a steering committee was set up to run the organization until the first Annual General Meeting in March, 1976 when an executive was elected. TESL Ottawa is now one of the largest affiliates in the province with 452 members.

TESL Ottawa promotes the professional interests and development of teachers of ESL in the Ottawa area by organizing conferences and workshops and by publishing a newsletter three times a year. The organization provides a forum for ESL teachers to bring up issues and express concerns.

TESL Ottawa members network with teachers from other areas by attending provincial and national conferences and by serving on committees and on provincial and national executives.

We hope that our web site will help to keep our members up to date with what is happening and will inform potential members about our activities.
